It is from the Sevres Factory, dated 1703-1770, after a design by Francois Boucher. The Three Graces in the Old Religion were Life, Death and Beauty. They are known as the three-fold mother and later as the Fates or the Graces. They are always shown with their arms around each other with very contented and peaceful expressions.
According to classical Greek mythology, the Three Graces were daughters of Zeus and Eurynome, a child of the Titan, Ocean. They are always together, a triple incarnation of grace and beauty," Their names are Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth), and Thalia (good cheer). In other words, classically/ they are reduced to light-hearted fancy, whereas under the Old Religion they had more meaningful representation.

While service to clients is FVP's main priority, the eight women and men who staff the program are also committed to effecting institutional change and to reducing the community's acceptance of domestic violence. To these ends, FVP staff members conduct a public information campaign through a speakers' bureau, printed materials, and media exposure (watch for signs on some buses this month), provide training and education for police, hospitals, social service and mental health professionals, attorneys, and school personnel, collect statistics and other information, work with other agencies for coordination of services, and maintain contact with community organizations.
The program is sponsoring the printing of a handbook for battered women, which will soon be available at no charge.
FVP's services are free, and child care is provided for children ages 3-12. Hours are 8:30-4:30 Monday

Jane Fonda (continued from page 3)
15 years. The office setting will most likely provide a detailed view of the working woman's predicament. Dolly Parton, the boss's "personal" secretary, will undoubtedly raise the public's consciousness of sexual harassment on the job. "Good comedy," Fonda explains, "is the other side of tragedy”. Just as "The China Syndrome" and "Coming Home" showed us tears in our social fabric that we'd rather not see (just how many political issues can one activist handle?), { expect that "Nine to Five" will snag us on the malevolent web of the corporate hierarchy.
Along with others in the audience, I found one of Fonda's statements disturbing. As she introduced the subject of the film "Nine to Five," she reassured us with the words, "Don't worry, it's not going to be a feminist tract. It's not going to be boring". Yet Fonda's entire speech was feminist: it contained affir`mative values for women, it emphasized the impertance of coopesition and· collective action, and it criticized the lower value placed on women's work. It seerns unlikely that Fonde was intentionally criticizing current fedmisist thinking.

Later in her speech, Fonda said, "Women office workers must organize at a time when the majority of people agres with the ideas of equal pay on the job kuid justior at the workplace. This change in attitude Enid is due romà dấy: the cìvit rights, the anti-war and the women's, phovements”. Which leads me to believe Jane Fondir lettioded simply to gain the trust of those women unfamiliar with, afraid of, or hosille to feminism. To focus on this one remark may seem trivial or acadèmic. I raise the issue because it does seem that for many women feminism is still a dirty word that evokes negative images. Like it or not, this attitude is dangerously prevalent. It effectively distorts the public image of feminists across the nation and discourages potential activists. It obscures the many positive changes feminists have achieved and are still striving for.
Jane Fonda concluded her speech with the rousing words, "The labor movement will no longer be represented by George Meany. Working women will change the face of labor in the 80's". A powerful speech, A terrific applause. And a final call to become a member of Cleveland Women Working.
